East Timor

The wet season runs from November to April and is characterized by high humidity, high temperatures, and heavy rain. The dry season runs from May to October and is characterized by cooler temperatures and less rainfall. The average temperature in East Timor ranges between 25-32 °C (77-90 °F). In the wet season, the temperature can reach up to 35°C (95°F). During the dry season, temperatures drop to as low as 18°C (64°F). In the capital city of Dili, temperatures are usually slightly higher than other regions of East Timor due to its location on the coast. The amount of rainfall varies greatly throughout East Timor. The driest region is Lautem District which receives only 500mm of rain per year while the wettest area is Ermera District which receives an average of 4500mm annually. Rainfall is heaviest during the wet season and can cause flooding in some parts of the country. On average, East Timor receives around 2000mm of rain each year. East Timor also experiences occasional cyclones which bring strong winds and heavy rains that can cause destruction in some areas. Additionally, there are occasional droughts that can affect some parts of East Timor for extended periods of time.
